Sei ryoku zen yo (technical principle)


The first principle, describes the execution of judo techniques, as well as the behavior of the judoka in competition. It can be described as "Best use of mind and body" or "Best use of available forces" and wants to express that pure physical force does not bring a decisive advantage.

With the principle Jigoro Kano will characterize the term Ju (gently give in, smooth) the word judo closer. The idea of "victory by yielding", both as a physical property as well as intellectual and emotional attitude is clearly reflected again in this principle.
